The Different Types of Eclectus Parrots

 
The Eclectus is one of the best species of parrot, also known as the Red-sided Eclectus and widely bred in Europe and the United States. There are more than 350 species of parrot, the Eclectus is considered by many to be the most beautiful.

It is the most popular Eclectus in Australia, and the nearby Indonesian and Pacific islands.They are colorful, fun loving, and intelligent companions that live upwards of 50 years. Eclectus are not only physically beautifully but its intelligence and personality make it an excellent choice for a pet.

The basic needs of Eclectus parrots consists of three things: Natural foods, pure water, and plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. These type of parrots are known for its high degree of sexual dimorphism. The female is mostly red with all purple and black bill on its belly. Where male eclectus parrots is mostly brigh green with yellowish and black mandible on its lower mandible. 

There are ten recognized subspecies of this bird, each with differing color schemes compared to the nominate race. The three most popular are:

The Red-sided Eclectus
The adult Aru Red Sided Eclectus Parrots is a large eclectus parrot native to the Solomon Islands.It was first described by Scopoli in 1786  They are quite intelligent.

They have yellow-tinted green feathering over the majority of their bodies. The upper side of the tail is green with yellow edging.Females have stunning red plumage with dark blue wings where as males have yellow tinted green bodies with dark blue wings too because they both have pale edging

The Vosmaeri Eclectus
These are mostly found on the tropical Islands in Indonesia. They are probably the most distinctive type of the eclectus. Males have a bright green body whereas females have red bodies and heads. The Vosmaeri Eclectus parrot is the largest than other species
